Description: | |||||||||||||||
Leaving George Bush Drive, the north branch of the Homestead Road will be a graded road. It will go about three quarters of a mile and pass around a small man made pond. The road will continue north across open land coming to an intersection. The left heads southwest to some trees and then becomes faint and ends at a fence. The right is the Homestead Road which will go 0.20 miles and come to another intersection. The road to the right is fainter, being a spur that ends at a fence in about a quarter of a mile. Stay with the left. The road will climb up a low hill into some scattered pines. Along this hill top there will be a few dispersed camp sites. Past the camp sites the road will drop over into Dry Gulch where it will make a left turn in the gulch and head west up Dry Gulch. You will immediately come to a fence. This is the boundary to Forest Service managed land and the road continues as Homeastead, FR854, road. Note: I have not been on the southern Homestead Road network described below. Back at the George Bush Drive, there are two roads that turn left, or south, before the previously described road. These are the southern Homestead Roads that form a network up on top of the low ridge to the south. The two roads climb to the top and then connect with each other along a northeast to southwest running road along the top. |
