Description: | |||||||||||||||
Forest Road 802 starts out in
conjunction with Gunnison County Road 44. After about 1.3 miles you
will come to a Y in the road, stay to the right and continue to follow
Wood Gulch. After another mile stay to the right at the next
intersection. A left will take you on FR802.A over to Cnty Road 44.![]() You will see some interesting rock formations along the creek as you continue north on FR802. At the next Y in the road stay to the right again and you will shortly cross a fenceline and enter Forest Service public land. The left turn will continue on BLM lands and eventually loop back down to FR802. After about 3/4 of a mile from the fenceline you will come to another Y in the road. There is a nice camp site here in the trees. **The following description is based on the Gunnison Ranger District MVUM** Forest Road 802 continues to the right and crosses another fenceline. Please close the gate after crossing the fenceline. To the left is FR802.2A. Forest Road 802 will climb over a saddle and then drop down Greathouse Gulch to FR680 and Gunnison County Road 887. A spur to the right, FR802.2B, off of FR802 before the saddle, will loop around Yellow Pine Ridge and also tie into FR680. Forest Road 802.2A will climb up into the forest and come to an intersection with FR831. Stay to the right and follow FR802.3A along a ridge. At the intersection with FR802.2C you can take a left and head toward Lookout Mountain. A right will follow 802.2C to its connection with FR802. |
